June22, 2010

Rouadi, (province of Al Hoceima) Morocco

HM King Mohammed VI of Morocco inaugurated, on Tuesday, a craftsmen village in the rural commune of Rouadi (province of Al Hoceima) and enquired about projects implemented or under implementation in the province as part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), worth around 26 million dirhams (nearly $3 million).

The craftsmen village, built on 800 square metres for 5.7 million dirhams, will contribute to reinforcing production and display, providing craftsmen with appropriate premises and improving products' quality in the region.

It will benefit 47 craftsmen and seven local cooperatives, and will serve as a space for training and developing competences in handicraft.

The monarch followed a presentation of several projects already implemented or under implementation as part of the INDH over 2009-2010 in the province of Al Hoceima.

These socio-economic projects aim at ensuring decent living conditions for large segments of the population, particularly women and children, promoting income-generating activities and opening up rural areas.
