Carthage National Museum plays host to photo exhibition on Palestinian city of El-Khalil
June 23, 2010 TUNISIA, (TAP)
The National Museum of Carthage is playing host, on June 22-July 10, to a photo exhibition dubbed a "People's Architecture and Identity," focused on the Palestinian city of El-Khalil. Held by Casa Arabe and the Spanish Agency of International Co-operation for Development (AECID), in association with the National Heritage Institute and the Agency for Heritage Valorisation and Cultural Promotion, this exhibition displays the different historical, architectural and human aspects of the four-thousand-year-old Palestinian city of El-Khalil. Through thirty photographs, this exhibition unveils the process of rehabilitation of the historical centre of El-Khalil to face up to the manoeuvres of the Israeli occupation. It is a process of rehabilitation that is part of the "Heritage for Development" programme which has managed to salvage the architecture and identity of this Canaanite city threatened by the Israeli blockade.
