HRH Prince Moulay Rachidof Morocco Presides over Inauguration of Marrakech-Agadir Motorway

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco presided, on Monday21st in the commune of M'zoudia (province of Chichaoua), over the inauguration of the 225-km long Marrakech-Agadir motorway, carried out for around 8 billion dirhams.

    HRH Prince Moulay Rachid followed the presentation of the project by Equipment and Transport Minister and the managing director of Morocco's Motorway Company.

    The motorway will have a positive impact on the regions of Marrakech and Agadir, especillay in terms of promoting tourism and farming activities, increasing exports by reinforcing trade with Europe, and attracting foreign investments.

    The motorway, launched in early 2006 by HM king Mohammed VI, will also make it possible to open up the region which has enormous economic potential to Morocco's major tourist hubs.

    It will reduce the travel time between Tangier and Agadir by half.
